Harvest Happened

A hop harvest. A wedding. A new job. Things have been pretty busy here on the hill the past month or so! Thus the lack of blogging. But the adventures in hop growing and brewing have continued on for sure!

Harvest was a learning experience. Saul did the majority of the picking and the entirety of the drying+vacuum sealing. It was a round-the-clock endeavor for a couple weeks there. The hop harvest coincided with the major event of the summer. The wedding of our dear friends, Erin and Guillaume, held right here on our property. It was amazing to see people and preparations come together for an extremely beautiful and outrageously fun celebration of two incredible people and their love for one another. Saul and I feel so SO happy have had this happen here.

So... a wonderful christening of our property and a refrigerator chock full of thirteen different varieties of home-grown hops. Not too shabby! Saul will actually brew with our hops for the first time tomorrow while I am at work. Work. Yes, another major development. I've recently rejoined the ranks of productive, wage-earning citizens. I am really happy (and lucky) to have landed a position at a school in Syracuse. I am loving it- and struggling to find a new balance.

More soon on the construction of our 1/2 acre hop yard!
